Assistant Processing Operator - 2nd Shift

Hours: 2:50 pm - 10:50 pm Monday - Friday. Must be able to work additional hours as needed.

Hourly Rate: $14

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Operate food processing equipment to produce quality processed products to the company's specifications to meet or exceed efficiencies, food quality, and safety standards.

DESCRIPTION OF PRIMARY DUTIES:

OIL / BATCH ROASTER START UP PROCEDURE:

  • Follow written procedure for all products.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment such as heat resistant and rubber gloves, heat apron, face shields and safety shoes.
  • Receive daily work schedule from PO and/or Processing Lead/Supervisor.
  • Check equipment for proper temperature settings, oil levels, and roasting times.

OIL / BATCH ROASTER OPERATIONS:

  • Verify the Schedule with the PO and/or Lead/Supervisor
  • Know quality standards and finished product appearance and roast product within written work specifications.
  • Maintain specified temperatures for each zone.
  • Keep oil at proper levels to avoid overflows.
  • Monitor oil tank.
  • Maintain product at proper levels. 12.5 lbs. per basket
  • Complete all paperwork (tally sheets, work orders, production reports, labor tracking etc.) when required.
  • Records all material usage accurately.
  • Sets up and maintains production counts on the production board.
  • Make sure all bins are labeled correctly.
  • Notify the PO, lead/supervisor of any mechanical, material, safety, or food safety issues, or the presence of foreign materials.
  • Keep roaster and filter system wiped off and the floor around the area swept up.
  • Handle all products and utensils by established GMP's.
  • Follows all Monster, Organic and Allergen Control policies and procedures.
  • Perform weekly roaster alarm checks in collaboration with the PO.
  • Follow the proper procedures for removing or processing (Dalsorb) or waste oil.
  • Operates hand jack to move materials and finished product to designated areas.

ENROBER OPERATIONS:

  • Verify the schedule with the PO and/or Lead/Supervisor.
  • Coordinates with PO’s, APO’s, processing supervisor and previous shift processing operator to ensure proper start-ups and production runs, minimize downtime and maximize production time.
  • Reviews shift work assignments with PO and/or processing Lead/Supervisor.
  • Checks enrober, cooling tunnel, belts, and line speeds, filters and temperature settings to ensure all equipment is functioning properly at shift start time. Perform hourly checks throughout shift and sign off or log any required information when required.
  • Communicates to PO, shift lead and forklift operator the line supply needs.
  • Record all supplies used on the line accurately when required.
  • Ensures proper levels of coating in meters and enrober reservoir and fills when needed by lifting and dumping product weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Communicates with enrober helper and the Q.C. to ensure compliance of weights, code dates, labels and packaging of product.
  • Verifies correct coating of product by weighing the raw and finished product using scales. Using these calculated weights to determine the percentage of coating per product piece. Records all information. This is checked every 1/2 hour.
  • Adjusts, when appropriate, the enrober shaker, blower and line speeds.
  • Assemble, disassemble and clean enrober and attachments such as stringers/swirlers, belts.
  • Ensure product meets visual product standards and that all surfaces are coated and cooled properly.
  • Cleans all line equipment and related utensils as required.
  • Communicates all problems with materials, equipment, product, or food safety issues including the presence of foreign materials to the PO and/or lead/supervisor.
  • Follows the Monster, Organic and Allergen Control policies and procedures.
  • Ensures the enrober is shut down properly and temperature set to 104 degrees when not running.
  • Operates hand jack to move materials and finished product to designated areas.

HOT PANNING OPERATIONS:

  • Verify the schedule with the PO and/or Lead/Supervisor.
  • Verifies proper materials per the work order and specifications are used to produce a quality product.
  • Measures ingredients using scales to obtain proper coating application.
  • Wears personal protective equipment such as insulated gloves, heat apron and safety shoes before starting process to insure the safe handling of hot finished ingredients.
  • Have the capabilities to dump 110 lbs. of product from bags to bins. Not necessarily all at once and with help.
  • Operate hand jack to move raw products and finished products.
  • Places product in bins or boxes per the work instruction.
  • Produce products at given standards to maintain efficiencies and be cost effective.
  • Maintains a clean area and equipment during and after production runs. This would include thorough washing of equipment and utensils after use.
  • Communicates all problems with materials, equipment, safety, or food safety issues including the presence of foreign materials to the PO and/or lead/supervisor.
  • Follows the Monster, Organic and Allergen Control policies and procedures.
  • Operates hand jack to move materials and finished product to designated areas.

SPRAY DYNAMICS OPERATIONS:

  • Verify the schedule with the PO and/or Lead/Supervisor
  • Verifies proper materials such as seasonings, tack blend or oil and coating per specification to produce a quality product.
  • Prior to start up calibrate measurements of seasoning and liquids using settings on vibrators and times using a stopwatch and scale to obtain proper application of coatings used when required.
  • Wears protective equipment such as safety shoes and at times dust masks to ensure the safety of the employee during use of coatings and bin changes.
  • Monitors the equipment and utilizes scoops and buckets for the raw product needed to fill the hopper for the seasoning process.
  • Operate hand jack and move finished products away from the area.
  • Produce products at given standards to maintain efficiencies and be cost effective.
  • Organizes proper set ups of Spray Dynamics equipment including water tanks, vibrators, vacuum systems and mixing drum.
  • Maintains a clean area and equipment during and after production runs, including tear down of equipment for sanitation practices.
  • Communicates all problems with materials, equipment, safety, or food safety issues including the presence of foreign materials to the PO and/or lead/supervisor.
  • Verifies process during operation to insure against changes in heat or product flow by checking settings.
  • Tests product periodically for taste and color.
  • Follows the Monster, Organic and Allergen Control policies and procedures.
  • Operates hand jack to move materials and finished product to designated areas.

MIXING OPERATIONS:

  • Verify schedule with the PO and/or Lead/Supervisor.
  • Communicate with forklift drivers to assure having all raw ingredients in a timely manner.
  • Verifies proper materials are brought to the line.
  • Per work orders using scales
  • Note: Step 1 Weigh specified amounts of ingredients per B.O.M.
  • Put weighed materials in either mixer or directly into bin.
  • Note: Steps 2 & 3 Require lifting and carrying up to 50 lb. containers of raw materials.
  • Operate mixer equipment and hand mix to assure thorough mixing and to maintain quality and integrity of ingredients.
  • Note: Mixing in bins involves bending, rigorous pushing and pulling).
  • Count and/or weigh remaining raw product to assure accurate inventories going back to warehouse or being used and correctly mark pallets/bins.
  • Complete all paperwork (i.e. tally sheets, work orders, production reports, labor tracking etc.) making sure all bins are labeled correctly when required.
  • Communicates all problems with materials, equipment, safety, or food safety issues including the presence of foreign materials to the PO and/or lead/supervisor.
  • Oversees mixer assistant processing operator if applicable and directs them as required.
  • Follows Monster, Organic and Allergen Control policies and procedures.
  • Operates hand jack to move materials and finished product to designated areas.

COLD PANNING / POLISHING OPERATIONS:

  • Verify schedule with the PO and/or Lead/Supervisor.
  • Record all ingredient weights available on Processing work order/labor form (using hand jack scale/floor scale and ruler for tanks) when required.
  • Communicate with previous Shift APO.
  • Communicates with the forklift operators to ensure material movement into and out of the area.
  • Meets or exceeds all productivity standards
  • Verify percent coating following written procedures.
  • Maintain work area during production process according to GMP's, company product standards.
  • Coordinate supply needs with forklift driver.
  • Perform all aspects of polisher job description according to GMP's and company product standards.
  • Understands monster, organic and allergen clean up on, Scheblers, and polishing pans.
  • Follows all Allergen Control policies and procedures.
  • Communicates all problems with materials, equipment, safety, or food safety issues including the presence of foreign materials to the PO and/or lead/supervisor.
  • Operates hand jack to move materials and finished product to designated areas.

BAXTER OVEN/ PIZZA OVEN:

  • Verify the schedule with the PO and/or Lead/Supervisor
  • Verifies that the proper materials and ingredients are available.
  • Follow the work instruction, and specifications for preparing, mixing ingredients and baking the product. (recipes, oven temps, time, etc.) and processes the Granola through the Rhodes roller to achieve the proper sizing.
  • Wears proper personal protective equipment to ensure safe operations and handling of hot materials.
  • Communicates all problems with materials, equipment, safety, or food safety issues including the presence of foreign materials to the PO and/or Lead/Supervisor.
  • Communicates with the forklift operators to ensure material movement into and out of the area.
  • Follows the Allergen Control policies and procedures.
  • Accurately records all ingredients used and fills out required paperwork (work order/labor form) when required.
  • Tags all out going ingredients, and finished goods as required.
  • Operates hand jack to move materials and finished product to designated areas.

MISCELLANEOUS:

  • Operate within our core values of Integrity, Goodwill and Results
  • Operate all machinery following safety procedures such as tag-outs.
  • Coordinate shift change over with APO’s and/or Lead/Supervisor to assure done timely and smoothly and communicate with next Shift Operator.
  • Performs cleans on equipment and utensils when not in use and for the next shift.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
  • Monitors assistant processing operator if assigned.
  • Accurately complete all job-related paperwork (work order/labor form) and documents in a timely manner when required.
  • Understand all valves, switches and safety mechanisms.
  • Maintain confidentiality with Waymouth Farms information, formulations and procedures.
  • Operate equipment only when properly guarded. Ensures all safety procedures are being followed, including using lockout procedure correctly.
  • Perform job and cleaning duties within established safety guidelines. Wear all required safety clothing and personal protective equipment.
  • Follows correct GMP procedures.
  • Has been trained on organic compliance requirements on a yearly basis and follows procedures.
  • Meets or exceeds all productivity standards.
  • Records all pertinent performance information (lbs./cases produced, material usage, etc.) when required.
  • Measures ingredients using scales to obtain proper coating application, mix, Etc. when required.
  • Perform other tasks as required by PO and/or Lead/Supervisor.
  • Keep work area clean and uncluttered.
  • Maintain proper locations of equipment and workstation.
  • Notify PO and/or Lead/Supervisor immediately if any product or equipment problems.
  • Follows correct lockout procedure when machine needs maintenance work or cleaning.
  • Communicate all machine problems, quality variations, and other operational problems to the PO/Lead/Supervisor/Manager immediately.
  • Responsible for clean work area.
  • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

Maintain Documentation (processing) when required:

  • Provide proper hours of production and product produced for standards.
  • Verify and record settings, usages and weights on production tally sheets.
  • Identify products properly with correct labels, tags and move tickets to insure proper storage.
  • Complete any other paperwork and/or documents related to job or specified by Supervisor.
  • Correctly identifies ingredient bins with item number, name, and records lot code numbers, and weights on containers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Able to perform the hand mixing which required vigorous pulling and pushing.
  • Can perform independently.
  • Able to work extra hours and weekends as necessary.
  • Previous production experience

  • Some trouble shooting abilities
  • Food plant experience.
  • Knowledge of weigh systems
  • Lead Person experience
  • Previous processing experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to lift 110 pounds with help (Team lift).
  • Able to stand for 8 – 12 hours
  • Ability to lift, carry, bend, push and twist - frequency varies during a normal shift.

Occasionally: Use ladder to take apart weight scales

  • Kneel/crawl to check materials and machines
  • Reach above shoulder height to load zipper stock
  • Lift/carry up to 50 lbs and over 50 lbs with help.
  • Push/pull up to 2200 lbs. of raw materials on a pallet with a pallet jack

Regularly: Stoop/bend to pick up rework, boxes, and roll stock

  • Climb stairs to the mezzanine level and above the packaging machines
  • Twist while doing rework and dumping raw material

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Note: In terms of an 8 hour workday, “occasionally” equals 1 to 33%; “frequently” equals 34 to 66%; and “continuously’ equals 67 to 100%.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Typical manufacturing facility, potential exposure to loud noises, dust, chemical exposure, moving equipment, some areas of the facility may be cold or hot.
